This standard regulates the basic requirements that must be fulfilled by digital tachograph technical centres.
Tachographs play an important role in road safety and their use is mandatory in certain road transport industries. These tools continuously record data about a vehicle’s mileage and speed. They also register a driver’s periods of activity and rest.
Royal Decree 125/2017 sets out that digital tachograph centres must be certified to UNE 66102 standard when it comes to the installation, checking, monitoring, inspection and repair of devices, both digital and analogue. This decree also obliges member states’ ministries of industry to audit these technical centres on a two-yearly basis.
The UNE 66102 standard establishes management system requirements, including on facilities, with a view to ensuring that any operations performed on tachographs adhere to defined, assessable and traceable procedures.
