Applus+ Certification achieves a milestone in sustainability with the registration of three projects under the Global Carbon Council (GCC)

04/09/2024

The successful registration of these three projects, which focus on reducing GHG emissions in developing countries, has been the result of extensive and complex work.

A few weeks ago, Applus+ Certification succeeded in registering three projects for Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited to the Global Carbon Council (GCC) international standard. This certification is part of a highly demanding process that requires meeting strict criteria for sustainability, eligibility, and carbon emission reductions

These three projects are located in India and apply to the Sectoral Scope 1.

    • 50MW Wind Power Project in Rojmal Gujarat (Project Submission No. S00486). The project involves the installation of a wind power generation plant, with installed capacity of 50 MW. It is estimated that this project can facilitate the reduction of carbon emissions by approximately 92,146 tCO2e per year.

    • 15 MW Solar Power Project in Telangana by Tata Power (Project Submission No. S00662). The purpose of this project is to generate electricity using solar energy and, with this generated electricity, to feed into India's national grid. The project activity involves the installation of a 15 MW solar power harvesting plant. It is estimated that this project can facilitate the reduction of carbon emissions by approximately 26,999 tCO2e per year.

    • 100 MW solar power project in UP by Tata Power Renewables Energy Limited (Project Submission No. S00345). The purpose of this project is to install an entirely new 100 MW solar power plant/unit connected to the national grid. It is estimated that this project can facilitate the reduction of carbon emissions by approximately 189,684 tCO2e per year.

These three projects can contribute to the achievement of different United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG+ 7, for affordable and clean energy; SDG+ 8, which promotes decent work and economic growth; and finally SDG+ 13, for climate action. The silver SDG+ label awarded to each project is a seal of quality and commitment to local economic and social development. In addition, all three projects are integrated into the CORSIA regulation, which allows international airlines to finance these projects to offset their emissions during all CORSIA phases.

This achievement not only allows us to further advance our mission to build a greener and more sustainable future, but also highlights the rigorous quality processes developed by our team of specialists and auditors.
