Applus+ Certification takes a vital step to promote the digital transformation of Galicia’s public administrative and management systems.
With more than 500 years of experience, the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) is a renowned higher education and research public institution in Galicia.
From 2019 to 2022, the USC has worked hard to achieve its strategic objective: promoting an information security and data protection management system.
In this case, the challenges were: to digitise the administration and to provide part of its telematic services, efficiently.
Certification in the National Security Scheme (ENS) allows public institutions to affirm that they comply with the basic principles and minimum requirements necessary to guarantee adequate protection of the processed information and provided services. This process implies access insurance, confidentiality, integrity, traceability, authenticity and the preservation of data, information and services used electronically.
This certification applies to several of USC’s information systems, including those that support Academic Management, Personnel Management, Electronic Headquarters, Quality, Sports and Virtual Teaching.
The ENS aims to ensure that electronic services are properly provided, safeguarding information without interruptions or uncontrolled modifications or unauthorised reach. All of these are key actions to strengthen the confidence in public administration information systems.
Due to this certification, the USC becomes the fifth Spanish university to be recently certified, after the University of Granada, Murcia, Valencia and Jaime I.
Moreover, in the autonomous community of Galicia, the USC, AMTEGA and the Diputación de A Coruña are the only Galician public entities that have been accredited as ENS compliant.
