Applus+ Certification evaluates the protocol under the IFS ESG Check scheme of the company OVINOS MANCHEGOS, S.L.

    Applus+ Certification has recently collaborated with one of the main sheep producers at national and European level in the evaluation of its Protocol under the IFS ESG Check program, boosting the distribution of high-quality products and promoting continuous improvement on a global scale.  

    The client  

    Ovinos Manchegos is a family company with more than 20 years of history and managed by its third generation that is maintaining the essence of the company, but bringing modernity, innovation and a vision of the future. Its main activity is the production of lamb at all stages, in an integrated manner and in all modalities (fine, merino, suckling, sheep), from the fattening stage of own feedlots for strict control of feeding, slaughter, quartering, freezing and distribution.  

    Thanks to its commitment to quality and food safety, the Ovinos Manchegos team has been able to respond to the needs and expectations of its customers, focusing on sustainability, business ethics and transparency as fundamental pillars of the company.  

    The challenge  

    For Ovinos Manchegos it was very important to commit to responsible business conduct. They knew that achieving business excellence could generate a lasting positive impact and an improvement in corporate risk management and regulatory compliance. Demonstrating that they were committed to sustainability would clearly help to increase their value as an organization to customers, consumers, users and society in general.     The solution  

    Faced with this challenge, the solution they began to consider was to obtain a evaluation that would allow them to demonstrate this commitment. They chose IFS ESG verification, which comprises the implementation of a sustainability management system that includes:  

    • policy, good governance and management,  
    • assessment of adverse impacts,  
    • stakeholder engagement and communication, and  
    • mitigation and improvement strategy. 

    Once the verification was selected, the next step was to appoint Applus+ Certification as the independent entity in charge of carrying out the assessment of OVINOS MANCHEGOS, S.L., in accordance with the requirements established by the IFS ESG Check Program Protocol. By choosing this external verification, Ovinos Manchegos could make its protocols, plans and objectives more honest and credible.  

    The results  

    Following the assessment carried out by Applus+ Certification, Ovinos Manchegos successfully obtained the IFS ESG Check, in a ceremony attended by María Del Carmen Mota Vizcaíno (General Manager) and Marina Sanchez Romero (Quality Manager) as representatives of Ovinos Manchegos, and Alicia Arroyo Guerrero (Operations Manager, Food & Agriculture) and Marta Mena García (Account Manager, Food & Agriculture) as representatives of the certifying entity.  

    This achievement not only demonstrates the company's firm commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility, but also strengthens its position in the market. The implementation of the sustainability management system has enabled Ovinos Manchegos to improve its internal processes, reduce its environmental impact and strengthen its relations with stakeholders.
